Counselling children and young people can bring its own set of challenges. Differing priorities and pressures, along with varying levels of emotional understanding, children and young people can require a special set of counselling skills.
Many adults that attend counselling for the first time, attend due to issues based in childhood or adolescence. The opportunity to deal with or process the issue(s) in childhood can increase the resilience and emotional wellbeing into adulthood.
I believe that its important to keep up to date with skills and techniques, whether that be grounding techniques, working with children, breathing techniques, or creative tools. I continually strive to provide the best support I can.

because grief is not only caused by bereavement. It can be the loss of a relationship, the loss of a job or career. Loss of the ability to participate in a much loved pastime or sport.
Where the grief is caused by bereavement, accepting the ebb and flow of emotions can be difficult. And the range of emotions can take some by surprise. Taking the time to process the emotions can allow us to understand why we have these feelings and thoughts. It supports the acceptance of the loss and maintaining a healthy bond with the person lost as your life moves forward.
